September 25, 2008 OSU's Wetlands to Host Swampfest
OSU's Olentangy River Wetland Research Park, 352 W. Dodridge St. is celebrating its designation as a Ramsar Wetland of International Importance with SWAMPFEST, set for 5-10 p.m. Thursday (9/25). Enjoy the Picnic at the Swamp, an outdoor lecture on wetlands of the world, and bluegrass and rock bands all evening. More information at: swamp.osu.edu
October 2, 2008 9th Annual Ohio Farmland Preservation Summit: Bonding Ohio Together
the NEW Nationwide and Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center, OSU Campus. The Summit key note speaker is David Kline, farmer, Amish minister, author and publisher of Farming magazine. Other highlighted speakers include leaders from successful township, county and nonprofit programs (both in and outside of Ohio) who will provide examples of creative collaboration strategies. Oct 12-14, 2008 Explore climate change
The McCormick Specialized Reporting Institute on Climate Change will give 20 top journalists the opportunity to meet leading scientists, policy analysts and reporters to explore the impact of climate change, as well as examine policies to address it and how to better tell the story. Nov 17-21, 2008 AAAS 2008 Leadership Seminar in Science and Technology Policy
AAAS is pleased to announce its 2008 Leadership Seminar in Science and Technology Policy, scheduled for November 17-21. The Seminar, a condensed version of the widely-hailed orientation program for AAAS S&T Policy Fellows, will include sessions on how policy is made in areas ranging from stem cell research to climate change, on federal budgeting for R&D, on how scientists can be effective in interacting with Congress, on science and regulation, and many other topics. Speakers include leading personalities in science and technology policy. The Seminar is designed for anyone who needs or wants to know how S&T policy is made -- scientists and engineers, managers and administrators in all sectors, association officials, government agency program managers, embassy science diplomats, and others.
The deadline for registration is September 15. However, since participation is limited to approximately 30 people, spaces will fill up quickly.
