Kilroy Welcomed Ohio State University Auto Researcher to Joint Session of Congress

Professor Giorgio Rizzoni, Director of The Ohio State University’s Center for Automotive Research, attended President Barack Obama’s address to the joint session of Congress on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 as a guest of Congresswoman Mary Jo Kilroy. Dr. Rizzoni and his team have focused their efforts on developing new batteries that could revolutionize the American auto industry and increase manufacturing in Ohio. Read More >

Gee endorses new sustainability proposal

On Monday, Feb 9, Ohio State University President E. Gordon Gee participated in an announcement of a major proposal aimed at transforming the nation’s energy policy. Sponsored by the Brookings Institution’s Metropolitan Policy Program, the event introduced a new Blueprint for American Prosperity report, “Energy Discovery-Innovation Institutes: A Step toward Energy Sustainability,” The report calls for increased federal funding of up to $6 billion for sustainable energy programs and the creation of a national network of regional energy-oriented research centers largely based at universities in partnership with laboratories. 2009 IEE research and campus sustainability grants available

The OSU Institute for Energy and the Environment has released an RFP making available up to $350,000 for multi-discipline research and campus sustainability project grants.  Faculty, staff, and students may apply.  The deadline for applications is April 3, 2009.  Contact: potter.138@osu.edu. Ohio State strives to become a benchmark for green building

The Ohio State University is leading the way in sustainability in higher education by creating a Green Build Policy that will set the bar for green design and construction. The principles and practices governing campus building now includes conserving resources and incorporating green design principles, while balancing initial and long-term operating costs.  Read more>

IEE to coordinate research that impacts OSU energy grid

The IEE has been asked to serve as a clearinghouse and connector to Facilities and Development for any researcher’s interest in projects that would connect to the energy grid at Ohio State.  If you are working on a research project that could impact any campus energy infrastructure, please contact us for information about proper protocol.

OSU gets a B for campus sustainability efforts

The College Sustainability Report Card recently recognized our improvements in campus sustainability by increasing OSU’s grade from a “C” to a “B.” A significant factor in our increased recognition is the fact that President Gordon Gee signed the American College and University President’s Climate Commitment.
